Histology Lab

The Department of Anatomy, KIMS is situated at Banashankari 2nd stage, Bangalore, in the First floor of the college building. Anatomy being the most fundamental subject of medical science, Department comprises of adequate, well qualified experienced teaching faculty and well- trained non-teaching faculty to maintain the department at its best.

The department is actively involved in Voluntary Body Donation Programme which enables many to live after death for higher purposes by becoming a very important, indispensable teaching tool for medical fraternity. In addition, it creates public awareness and interest.

Teaching staff are actively involved in research activities and present their work in various state, national and international conferences. Research articles are published in various indexed peer reviewed national and international journals. Staffs attend various CME to update their knowledge and involved in organizing activities of Medical Education Unit.

Department of Anatomy has spacious and well-ventilated dissection hall with 20 dissection tables, mortuary. Histology Laboratory is well equipped with LED Light microscopes with LCD projectors and TV screens for effective learning activity. We also have facilities for photomicrography.

The department has well maintained museum with wet and dry specimens, embryology models, anthropometric instruments and comparative anatomy specimens which reflects on basic understanding of the subject.

Department contains spacious and well equipped (Audio visual aids) demonstration rooms to facilitate small group learning activities; seminar hall, and library enriched with latest reference and textbooks of Human Anatomy, national and international journals .

Body Donation - A Final Act of Caring

CME on Body Donation

Felicitation to Senior citizen registered for body donation

Felicitation to an Youngster registered for body donation

The Department of Anatomy, KIMS Bengaluru has a well established body donation program which has a substantial number of human cadavers which meets the need of the department at present and also in the near future. We have been receiving Voluntary body donors in and around Bengaluru for many years. Awareness through media and word of mouth has increased the number of voluntary body donors including inspired youngsters of society.

In 2016, the Department of Anatomy conducted a CME Program on Body Donation which has enhanced the number of voluntary donors and also created awareness about organ donation in the society in general.

At present, the Department of Anatomy has 45 cadavers which were voluntarily donated. We are grateful to the voluntary body donors who have overridden the existing social and religious taboos to come forward wholeheartedly. This noble act of the voluntary donors has contributed significantly to scientific research and medical education.
